May 30, 2023 - Evan Anstey Announces Next Album, “Things Changed”
“Things Changed”
Here it is, my first full-length solo album since 2018. Believe it or not, that’s actually the year I started recording this. But after nearly finishing just one song, I put the project aside, instead focusing on session work and a number of EPs and albums with others, only very occasionally doing a bit of work writing and recording “Things Changed.”
Last year, I knew it was time to really pick it back up. And needless to say, a lot of things changed between 2018 and 2022. I scrapped half the songs I was planning to record for this album and wrote new ones instead.
Working with engineer Dave St. Onge, who mixed, mastered and co-produced this album, I finally wrapped up the recording process earlier this year.
I look forward to sharing “Things Changed” with you all. The 11-song album will be available on streaming services June 30.

Meat Raffle, the Buffalo-based prog rock band featuring Evan Anstey on guitar and vocals, released their debut album, “Unintended Consequences,” on Friday morning.
The album, which features seven original tracks, is a concept album of sorts — telling the tale of a robot war pitting man vs. machine.
“Unintended Consequences” was recorded entirely within the walls of Clarence United Methodist Church, in Clarence, NY. And bassist Ian DeHaas was the brains behind the album’s mixing, mastering and engineering.
For fans of Muse, Radiohead and Genesis, this album’s for you. Hear it now at either of the following links:

Dec. 29, 2020 - Reflecting and Looking Forward
It’s been a different sort of year — one unlike any we’ve seen before. Obviously, the pandemic has changed our lives in many ways, with some feeling its impact even more than others. Although 2020 brought many negative changes to daily life, it’s important to remember the moments of good, even the things as simple as a morning cup of coffee, or the warmth of sunshine.
The Lord of the Rings’ Samwise Gamgee put it well during a moment of hardship alongside his companion Frodo in The Two Towers. Frodo asked Sam, “What are we holding onto?” Sam replied “That there’s some good in this world, Mr. Frodo, and it’s worth fighting for.”
Let’s remember that. Even in the darkest days, the sun will shine again. I look forward to that sunshine. I can’t wait to gather with my friends, and come together in bars and coffeehouses playing music in a world where we’ve conquered COVID-19. I long for the days where this wretched virus stops killing our loved ones, and businesses can flourish.
I am lucky and thankful that 2020 wasn’t completely music-free for me. Out of caution, there was a long pause in production, but this year, I was able to release an album with my friend, songwriting partner and fellow folk music enthusiast, James Robert Kibby. We are proud of what became “The Weekend Preacher” and are so glad we’ve been able to write together and share this music with you.
Thankfully, my work with James is far from over. He’s been loaning his banjo-picking skills and harmonica chops to a new project I’ve been working on sporadically throughout the year. And he’s not the only friend I have at my side for this one, but I’ll reveal more about that when the time gets closer to share the music.
Along with that, the Arrowdrive project finally came to fruition as 2019 wrapped up and 2020 began. Throughout the year, Pete Sarchia, Nick Goodwin and I released a set of singles we recorded with the help of Lockport’s legendary Doug White at Watchmen Studios. It was a treat to be able to write new material and finally finish songs we had in the works for roughly a decade.
Back in May 2019, I had the pleasure of meeting and starting an exciting musical journey with Darryl Tonemah. Playing alongside Darryl, LP Tonemah, Ernie Palmer, Kris Brayley and Tom Keefer has been phenomenal and full of countless moments I’ll never forget. 2020 took us all the way out to Arizona after half a year of playing together across Western New York. And it won’t be our last journey out west; I can assure you that. Just about a month ago, the first Tonemah track featuring Ernie and I (the new guys), and our friend Ray Barry, was released. We’re expecting to drop about a dozen more tunes in 2021, leading up to the release of “The Black Rock Sessions.”
And that’s not all! My friends Luke Allport-Cohoon, Ian DeHaas, Nick Badeau and I have been hard at work writing and prepping some sick tunes we can’t wait to share with you in 2021. The creative energy and musical melding of these guys blows my mind, and I’m honored and blessed to call them friends and bandmates. We hope to see you rocking out to Meat Raffle in the very near future.
Of course, I can’t forget about my buddies in Acoustic Jelly! Wayne Rider, Rodney Condren and I are pumped to return to the stage and get you dancing once again in 2021. It’s always a good time with Wayne and Rodney, whether we’re rearranging a Fleetwood Mac cover, knocking back a few brews or telling you dad jokes while you yell for us to play the next song. We’ll see you at your favorite brewery!
With that, I plan to play some solo shows here and there and share other new tunes I’ve been writing, as well. Thank you for all your support and love! I’ll see you in 2021!
Dec. 3, 2020 - Evan Anstey To Kick Off Facebook Live Concert Series Highlighting Local Food Pantries

The purpose of this Sunday’s live stream is not only to entertain an audience virtually, but to raise awareness of local food pantries and the support they need this holiday season, especially with the COVID-19 pandemic still impacting many families.
“It’s a concert series to bring a little joy to those that need an uplift while focusing awareness on the need for donations needed for local food pantries,” Jessica Doktor, facilitating coordinator for Better Corfu, says.
Anstey is scheduled to perform a mix of Christmas tunes and other music for half an hour, beginning at 7 p.m. To watch the performance, tune in on his Facebook page or look for a shared post of the video on the Better Corfu Facebook page.
